Screen-Free Summer Challenge
Starting June 1, 2026
This summer, we invite children, teens, and families to join our free Summer Screen-Free Challenge! An open opportunity to create more space for connection, creativity, movement, rest, and emotional well-being.
Research continues to show that excessive screen use can impact children’s mental health, sleep, relationships, and emotional functioning. The 2023 U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory reported that up to 95% of youth ages 13–17 use social media, with more than one-third reporting they use it “almost constantly” (Office of the Surgeon General, 2023). Recent research has also found that reducing leisure screen time may improve emotional well-being, behavior, and positive social interactions in children and adolescents (Anderer, 2024).
Our goal is not perfection or eliminating technology altogether. Instead, this challenge is designed to help children and families become more intentional about how they spend their time during the summer months making room for outdoor play, imagination, hobbies, conversation, relationships, and meaningful experiences beyond a screen.
*For Children/Teens ages 7-15, no need to be a client.
